Effects in Cognition in Patients who Underwent Bariatric Surgery

In this project we are investigating the effect of bariatric surgery on cognitive function in individuals with obesity.

Our cohort consisted of patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Their metabolic phenotype, diabetic complications (e.g. neuropathy, retinopathy, kidney disease, etc.), and cognitive measures were taken before surgery (baseline) and 2 years post-surgery. Our outcomes of interest were NIH Toolbox Composite Cognition measure Rey auditory verbal learning test results.

For this project, I produced summary statistics of our cohort of patients and performed multivariable regression modeling of our outcomes of interest. My other duties included data cleaning, integration, and visualization as well as writing up statistical methodology. A manuscript for this project is currently in progress.
